  • As an Indigenous person from northern Ontario … GOOD!

My family traded with the Hudson Bay Company for generations in furs from the north. I remember my dad trading furs just before the whole industry collapsed in the 70s. My parents barely made a living from the furs yet they had to negotiate and fight and argue with every shipment they gave. Those store managers were just as terrible as the ones you read in history books.

Not to mention they were the only store operating in many native communities in the north … so with the monopoly in a community, they had the freedom to set the price for anything and everything and make way more profit than they should have.

I celebrate the demise of the HBC … it’s historically a terrible company for native people.

It’s like moving stuff around in a box to make things work or appear differently … if your head is upright and you can’t think past whatever it is you’re looking at, you tilt 45 degrees and all the brain mush slops over to one side of your skull and the ideas and thoughts get reset … if you’re still confused, you tilt 45 degrees in the other direction to reset the brain mush again … and you keep doing that to the brain mush until something starts making sense.

  • Basically how I browse the internet these days … if I have to click on a bunch of stuff, sign up, register, accept a bunch of notifications, cookies, blah, blah, blah … all because I want to read 200 words on your dumb site … I’m not even going to bother with your site, skip and find a different source that is easier.
