  • I’ve probably been voting longer than you been alive. I’m so glad you could resolve my confusion with such bland, marvelous words, which shows a dedicated understanding of this very complex topic.

I’m sure you looked at the 176,933 precincts in the USA that has over 100 voting systems, with numerous often contradictory practices, and mediums ranging from paper ballots to many other types including the very fancy touch screens. In fact I know you did. I will rest easy. Again, thank you for helping me

  • Unless more democratic leaders actually try to build grassroots, stuff like this is not very helpful. Because few have any clue how to do that, structures to rely on, support, or plans.

Unless any democratic leader offers a plan to make the red and purple states follow international guidelines for voting. All of this is just hot air.

So, doubly damned. And that not even getting into issues that would be very important were this a normal democracy. These issues don’t count now, which is the only reason efforts like this are not triply damned.

  • I used to see many people socializing outside: adults and kids. Now, 4 decades later I only see kids under 12 hang outside. I noticed people from Europe coming here expressing surprise of streets empty of pedestrians.

At the same time, I witnessed less places and businesses where people can be together, less attendance at both bars, school sports and churches - and the decline of local politics, grassroots and community activism.

I can’t help but think all these are related to what you say here
