    There are multiple lines in the sand that have been drawn, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

    • This case is important because this is essentially Trump assuming powers of the Legislative branch of government for himself and asking the Supreme Court to sign off on it. If the Supreme Court signs off on this, the Legislative branch loses any and all control over federal agencies it created, as Trump would be able to just shut them down by either defunding them or firing all the workers at will. Sure, these agencies might still technically exist on paper, but firing all the employees and setting the budget to $0 accomplishes the same thing as closing it.

    • If the Supreme Court rules against Trump, will Trump abide by it and rehire all of the affected workers? Or will he use is usual tactics of just indefinitely delaying, pretending to “misunderstand” or “misinterpret” the judge’s orders, and then just eventually ignoring or defying them like he’s done with so many of the others? If the Supreme Court doesn’t follow up and actually impose consequences if Trump pulls these stunts, they would be relegating themselves to being merely an advisory panel with no real enforcement mechanism that can be safely ignored at will.
